Another blog entry usually means the beginning or the end of yet another wonderful project for us.  This time we pay homage to the new restaurant in downtown Chester, CT… “6 Main”.

6 Main was all about converting a brick bank building built in the 1890’s into a brand new restaurant space for chef Rachel Carr and owner Bill De Jonge to host the newest addition to downtown Chester’s food scene.

The transformation from dingy purple carpets, fluorescent lights, small partitioned office rooms and worse… into a bright, exciting, and fresh space for dining, drinking, and of course cooking was no small task.

Credit must be given to our team of professionals to include Matt Williams – Williams Architects, Marily MacKinnon – MacKinnon Interiors, Greg Fedus – Fedus Engineering, Anne Penniman – Anne Penniman Landscape Architects,  Nick Sapia – Sapia Builders, and of course… our client, who made all the right choices.

In the photos below, you’ll see highlights of the dining room which include an all new lighting layout and fixtures. Ceilings were covered with a 3 layer application of sound proofing material to help acoustics. Two piece crown molding, chair rail, and baseboard were added, and let’s not forget the transformation of the night time deposit box into a new window – complete with replicated millwork.  You’ll also notice new oak floors, interior design highlights, and more.

Beyond the dining room you’ll find a new service bar, waiter/waitress station inside an old vault, and two restrooms.

Further is the highly anticipated kitchen, complete with textured red epoxy floors, a teaching/prep room, dish room, walk-in refrigerator, prep lines and more. Where possible, walls were completed with white subway tile, french doors at the teaching/prep room allow a visual of kitchen activity, and there’s nothing more impressive than a state of the art range/oven hood system.

Take a look at the photos and be sure to visit 6 Main soon. They’re open every day for lunch and dinner… and I’ve been for both, it’s fantastic.
