We all know the damage water can do… to a home it can be a never ending battle.  From the type of soil on you property, to proper grading, to roof overhangs and drip lines; rain water can become a re-occurring hinderance on living.

Our client was suffering from water in her basement to start.  After looking around to assess the problem, the water in the basement was just the beginning.  We found rot around exterior doors, mold in corners of the house hidden from the sun, and parts of the deck where boards were swollen so large that water now ponded against the house.

Gutters were an obvious and immediate remedy that to today, have had a dramatic impact on “rainwater management” at the house.

Due to the size and scale of this home, it’s decorative details, and overall level of finishes, we had no choice but to recommend the biggest and best…  six inch copper.

We collaborated on the overall design with our copper fabricator / installer in order to highlight the details of the house and keep all the symmetry, which was an apparent integral design element.

The result is highlighted in the above photo and on our portfolio page.  However, we took the process one step further in order to ensure that rain water was shuttled as far away as possible.  We hand dug trenches for underground piping that the copper downspouts fed into, and brought them approximately fifty feet away from the house to daylight.
