We’ve recently started the major renovation of this 1954 Cape Style house in Old Lyme.

This self-designed project will replicate as many early colonial architectural details as possible while also opening the inside of the house up to what we’d today call a open floor plan style.

Project highlights include completely regrading the property, changing the driveway, attaching the garage, building a country kitchen, and new living room with master bath and closet above.

Through standards practiced as a Certified Green Professional, we’ll be using highly renewable resources for construction, such as the Zip System wall and roof sheathing, PVC trim board, and Hardieplank clapboard siding.  Advanced building, insulating, and heating & cooling techniques will drive this home towards complete energy efficiency.

Below are some progress photos.
