OLD SAYBROOK — —

The Channelside Homeowners Association is seeking a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for work involving ramps, floats and bulkheads. The work is proposed for a man-made basin to the south of the Connecticut River at Channelside Drive.

The proposed project is expected to impact 2,887 square feet of essential fish habitat for various species. Loss of the habitat may adversely affect these species, but the corps has determined that the adverse effect would not be substantial. The National Marine Fisheries Service is also providing input on the project’s impact.

Public comments on the permit review should be forwarded by Jan. 28 to: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England Disrict, Regulatory Division, Attn: Amy Bourne, 696 Virginia Road, Concord, MA 01742-2751. The public notice can be viewed at http://www.nae.usace.army.mil
