These custom built-ins were created on two living room walls to create a built-in project tying the living room fireplace and television into a functional custom cabinet, bookcase, and bench with a linen compartment and space for baskets.

Each top for the cabinet and the bench were made from rough sawn wood supplied by a local saw mill.  The tops were planed, shaped, sanded, stained and sealed to match the interior of the existing house.  The bench top features a lifting seat for linen storage inside.

The bookcases were built slightly higher off the floor than normal to allow for the hot water baseboard heat to escape into the room.  The cabinet doors were made from rough sawn pine with a hand grooved bead detail to match existing trim inside the house.

After everything was completed, it was easy to stand back and see how the project really contributed to making the room feel complete on many levels.
