We’re nearing completion of framing at our Old Lyme renovation project.  Seen in some of the pictures below, we’ve completed the rear country kitchen, first floor expanded floor plan, and the attached barn style garage.  The only remaining items are the last 2 dog house dormers in the front of the house to be centered above the front door and in between the lower windows.

At that point we’ll move on to finishing the crown molding roof trim, returns, and be looking towards being ready for the new roof.  It couldn’t come quick enough because our windows, siding, and trim is all lined up and ready to go, as soon as the roof is finished.

One of the best products we’ve been using is the Huber Zip System sheathing.  It’s been mentioned in numerous other blog posts, but on every project we use it on, it’s so great to have a dry house / work site at this stage of the process.  The waterproof membrane and zip tape keep us working on rainy days and protect everything else on the inside… and on remodel projects, thats huge.

Also to note… the stone retaining wall… “Salem Dark” granite from Salem, CT.  This phase is almost finished, but in time it should wrap into the second phase of the driveway which is coming right up to the front door.  Current stone work includes the 35 foot long and 4 foot tall, compound “S” retaining wall next to the garage to carry and level front yard grade line across the front of the house.  All stone work is being completed by Nick Sapia.
