Nothing seems more rewarding after a job well done, than to see the reaction of a client totally satisfied… that is unless there’s one totally cool thing that takes away from it all. In this case, it was one of the finishing touches… the Solar Blinds.
We utilized Velux’s lien of fixed skylights to create the feel of 2 glass atrium hallways. During the ordering process there’s always an option to pre-order blinds. In this case, we did, and chose the electronic version that mounts right into the frame of the skylight after finish painting has occurred.
Facing upwards is the “motor” with an open window exposing the photocell that gets recharged constantly by the sun. So… there’s no pre-wiring, just put the blinds up, and your AA battery in the remote and you’re good to go! (minus a few installation & programming steps in the middle).
Regardless, nothing beats that first demonstration when you say “you ready? watch this…” and simultaneously two rooms filled with 10 different skylights all open in unison and the darkness turns to bright sunlight. Ahhhh technology.
