We recently completed the total reconstruction of a large walk-in 5’ x 6’ tiled shower. As you’ll see from previous photos, there were leaks, failed repairs, bad grout joints, and a dysfunctional base that didn’t drain well.
As a replacement, we went with a 3×6 Brazillian Tumbled Slate tile on the walls, 4×4’s on the floor, 6×6’s on the ceiling, a custom one piece slate threshold, and 4 custom corner shelves all in the same material. The original plumbing was re-worked and set up to receive a new Moen fixture and handspray in antique bronze.
Bringing the shower framing to square and level posed somewhat of a challenge but after that, layout and installation were picture perfect.
