Riverbend

A new house above the Connecticut River in Old Saybrook, built to KV designs’ drawings and finished in 2017.

Gambrel roofs at each end, a curved copper roof over a stone entry, and a diamond laid into the shingles of the side wall. Red cedar shingles over a rainscreen on a stone base, and Marvin windows.

The building permit was issued in April 2016. The frame went up that summer, the house was roofed by October, and the certificate of occupancy was issued in July 2017.

Inside: a barrel-vaulted family room open to the kitchen, coffered ceilings in the kitchen and dining room, and radiant heat under the tile in the main bath, sunroom and mudroom.

The blower-door test in May 2017 measured 1.5 air changes per hour at 50 pascals. The code maximum is 3.0.
